Hammond's Dark Sea Salt and Caramel

Dark chocolate and caramel has been one of my favorite treats since I have been little. On here you will find it as a bar that I try frequently from many different chocolate makers. Hammond's does it right with this bar. The chocolate has a nice firm texture without getting waxy, and the caramel has just the right amount of viscosity and is not super sticky. I had a third of the bar and I kept wanting to go back and eat the rest of it.I finally had to go get a drink so that it didn't drive me crazy.

Hammond's Pigs N Taters

As you all know I enjoy a unique candy bar, so when I came across Hammond's (a Colorado based company) Pigs N Taters I just had to try it. Oliver and Valerie were visiting here from France when I picked up this bar and their initial reaction was that it was going to be gross.

Luckily, Hammond's did not disappoint us at all. This is a great bar, the bacon adds a nice smokiness and salt, the potato chips add crunch and more salt. And you know that chocolate and salt is a great combination.

At $3 a bar this is not something you have as an afternoon snack, but it is something you will want to try.

My new favorite pillows

You may remember this post, made with this fabric:

Well I wanted new throw pillows for my couch and I have A LOT of this Mickey fabric still so we decide to make some....OK, Kevin and I decided we would use this fabric and pick out some other fabric for the back...and my mom would make some :-)
Yes that is Mobi's big nose in the picture....she thinks she should have her nose in everyone's business.
These are just the first two.  She is going to make two larger ones also, with a different back color to coordinate.  I am so happy!

Amazing....

Ok, do you see what I see?  It is the desk!  I know that sounds crazy, but it is usually covered in papers etc...we took everything off and reorganized....So nice to actually see the top of the desk for once.

Just a couple of cute pictures.....
I think Mobi's head is bigger than mine :-)

We like to relax in the evening and nothing beats sitting out on the deck and just having a cool drink and enjoy the evening and sunset.

Our newest residents nearby

The other day, we noticed that we had some Geese around.  A lot of them just at the end of our property on the other side of the irrigation ditch.  It was a little cooler that day and raining, so I thought they had just stopped to enjoy the rain and rest.  Nope they seem to be around for awhile as we have seen them almost every day.

Annual Fly in

As usual, Kevin and I went to the annual fly-in at the airport, in conjunction with the Glenn Miller Swing Fest

We go and have a pancake breakfast. (Kevin loves a good pancake breakfast) and take a look at all the old planes and some newer ones.  What does it do for me.  It renews my dream to learn to fly.  I know you all email Kevin and/or reply here and encourage him to say yes to me when I ask for lessons :-)  Then we can fly to come visit you!!!

What do these two pictures show?  Well I am very short and Kevin is not.

Hidden Cat

Do you see him?
How about now?

 There he is
This is one of Chips favorite place to hang out.  He watches the birds, and relaxes in the shade.

Georgia Coming up!

Another update.  I didn't know I was getting an actual memento of the award, but I did.  One of my coworkers picked this up on my behalf and sent it to me.  VERY cool.

UPDATE: the paper that I co-wrote for the DLA conferences has now been published in their online journal: OJDLA http://www.westga.edu/~distance/ojdla/  and featured on this webiste as well: http://distance-educator.com/

Georgia coming up!

I am going to present at a conference on Jekyll Island soon.  I have wanted to go to this conference for a while now and so I was excited to be accepted.  Then I found out I had two presentations accepted.  But, the exciting piece is when I opened my email and saw this:

Hello Jodene,

Congratulations!  You will be receiving a
Best Paper Award for your co-submission of Supporting the General Education Program for Distance and Adult Students.  Also, your paper will be published in the June edition of the OJDLA.
I submitted this presentation with two other people from work.  We are very pleased and surprised by this award!
I hope to have pictures for you when I return.
