Harlow turns 2!
Harlow's birthday is this week, 2 years old! So we had a party at Desirae's house....Important piece opening presents....
While Caelum said he wasn't interested in any of the presents, he had a hard time containing himself and not helping his little sister.
The grandparents chatting it up...
Once the presents are open, you have to put the gifts together, this castle that Tim is working on, almost proved to be too much for both parents...
One of the gifts was a bag with a brush, hair dryer, curling iron, straightening iron, and other accessories...so while Harlow was playing with her other gifts, Joslyn tried it all out on me....I had to get my hair done and a headband put in....
Then I had to get my pretend lipstick on...
Here is Harlow playing with her castle...
Next up was cake....Dez does a nice job baking and decorating the cakes herself.
Singing Happy Birthday and blowing out the candle...
Happy Birthday Harlow.

Pumpkin Carving
On Saturday we had a pumpkin carving party at our house. Doug, Cindy, Greg, Dez, Tim, Harlow, Joslyn, Caelum, Jean, Mert, Jody and Kevin....
We all got started right away, and was prepared for the big mess.....
Lots of concentration by everyone, takes a lot of hard work to get a good pumpkin
Caelum worked really hard on his pumpkin, he did great work, with a little help from his Dad.
This is the finished group. There were still two not quite finished here.
The kids were doing their "zomie" faces. Well at least Caelum said they were....
Here are the two that Kevin and I did....can you guess which one is mine?

Joslyn and Harlow had to take a break with a halloween cookie....they were told to stay on the hardwood floor, so they got as close to the carpet as possible.... :-) cracked me up

SNOW...early Oct
This is what we woke up to this morning! They say this is a little early for snow for us.
I hope it is a sign that this coming winter we actually get some snow and moisture. Such a change from the 90 degree temps we had earlier in the week. Looks like fall is finally here....

50 YEARS!!!
September 15th, was my parents 50th wedding anniversary. So Kevin and I decided to throw them a party. Here we were getting all set up...
We had Piggin Out BBQ here in town come out and cater for us. They served chicken, brisket, mac and cheese, BBQ beans, rolls, drinks, and cupcakes. It was all fantastic, really great. We filled in with some fruit and other salads as well.
The guests all arrived, we had almost 70 people attend, it was really great to see a wonderful turnout of everyone congratulating my parents.
We had some games for kids too...
Great conversations with family and friends we don't often get to see
Some pictures....
We even had an opportunity for folks to write on the tables little messages for my parents....
It was a great party. Thanks to everyone who made the trip to our house to celebrate 50 years with my parents. I saw a shirt the other day that said "the first 50 years of marriage are the hardest" so I guess my parents have it made now. Congrats!

I know she hasn't been with us quite a year, but one year ago today, this sweet little puppy was born....and in November 2011, we brought her home....
And before we knew it, she was 6 months old and growing so fast....
And today she is 1 year old. So big, and sweet. Happy Birthday Mobius!

If we didn't have a dog....
One of the blogs I occasionally read had a post today
about being cleaning day. Her question
to her readers was "what do people with no animals and no children need to
clean?" She was talking about all the dog hair that is everywhere, and
what it would be like without a dog. I have to admit, I sometimes wonder, how
much cleaner things would be without our two dogs....here is part of her post:
(some editing for length)
If we didn't have a dog we
could go out in public in black slacks without carrying the lint brush
with us.
If we didn't have a dog there would be no dog toys strewn helter skelter all over the house waiting to be stepped on.
If we didn't have a dog we could go away overnight and not have to get someone to watch him.

My addition...If we didn't have a dog, we would not have to
worry about cleaning the yard, or the dog slobber on our shirts...
Her post continues....But...
If we didn't have a dog there would be no one to greet us when we come back from the mailbox wondering where we were all that time.
If we didn't have a dog we might forget that every day is a new celebration and that we should wake up excited to start the day.
If we didn't have a dog there would be no squeaky bone serenades.
If we didn't have a dog there would be no silken head to pet.
If we didn't have a dog there would much less laughter over his antics.
If we didn't have a dog there would be no one to stare at us or lay their head on us encouraging us to pet them.
If we didn't have a dog there would be no small woof and grrrrrrrrr to warn us that there is something outside (well that is sometimes, most of the time there is nothing).
If we didn't have a dog the squirrels (in our case bunnies) would take over the back yard.
So yes, our house would be cleaner, there wouldn't be muddy footprints on the freshly mopped kitchen floor, there wouldn't be toys everywhere, and there wouldn't be water dripped all over from getting drinks. Yet the joy they bring, the unconditional love, they help me clean up spills in the kitchen, they just seem to know when you have had a bad day and just need a hug, and no matter how I look, what I wear, or how I smell, they always want to be close to me. When reflecting, they certainly bring more to me than I could ask them for, they are so worth all the "trouble"

Guess what I found?
UPDATE: total there were 6 kittens, however we only saw 5 total, so we think maybe something happened to the 6th. The cats belonged to the neighbor down the street, so they are now home. What will happen to the kittens? Well they will go to good homes....and we may be one of those homes, not sure yet. Stayed tuned...
So on Tuesday, my mom said she saw a Cat on the back patio, it was a momma cat with a gray kitty. She didn't think much of it, thinking they were the neighbor's.
Then on Wednesday, my great nephew Caelum was spending the night and he told me at dinner he saw an orange kitty under the wood box in the back under the deck. So after dinner we went out to investigate....and what did we find? We found a momma kitty and three babies, a white one, a gray one and an orange one.

The momma is tame, but very very skinny, so I had to feed
them some food and milk....the little ones are a little wild and unsure of us
still. It was really hot out there after
dinner, about 103...so we left them to eat and came inside. Then this evening I went back out to see if I
could get a picture to send to Kevin. I
found all of them, and since it was cooler, they decided they could do some
playing....
while I was watching them, I realized something....wait, are my eyes
right? Yep there is a 4th baby.....
We left them all for the night and will check on them in the
morning. Not sure what we are going to
do with 5 more cats...yikes. I am not
even sure Kyburz knows yet, it has been too hot for him to venture outside too
much....
