Surgery for Stormy

We decided it was time to have Stormy spayed....On Tuesday March 1, we took her in around 8 in the morning and picked her up about 3 pm. She was pretty groggy when we picked her up. Here you can see she sorta wants to play, she can't help herself but she just couldn't do it. She ended up leaning against the wall to support herself.

That night she started bleeding through her stitches and we had a big mess all over the floor, so we wrapped her up with an ace bandage for a few days and she did great. She is now back to her old self and as wild as ever.

Dog Visitors

This morning, I looked out the window of our bathroom and saw this....

A black lab mix and a German Shepard mix. The pipe you see in this bottom picture is where bunnies are known to go and you can see that this dog tried to dig to get to them (sigh, now we have to fix the pipe again...this isn't the first time dogs have done this).

We aren't sure where these dogs belong. We have never seen them before. They are certainly comfortable waiting here. I first noticed them this morning around 8 am, but they are still there as of 1 pm today.....just hanging out... We may have to try to chase them off, but we were hoping some owners would come looking for them soon.

UPDATE: Since these two were still hanging around, we went out to see if they were friendly and if they had a collar on. They did not have a collar, so we called the Sheriff, they sent out a deputy and he picked them up. They were pretty scared, I think someone must have dumped them. So sad, they seemed like nice dogs, if we didn't already have two, I might have kept them....

New Pictures

We had some pictures we wanted to get framed. One was a picture Collage of many pictures that Pauline sent us from her trip here (see below post, she will be here again in July....we are soooo excited to see her again).

The other picture is a puzzle, and all puzzles (for those who have been to our house, and if you haven't visited yet, you should....) go on the wall on Mickey Mouse Drive.....

We had these framed in Longmont, and our friends Kim and Ron picked them up for us and brought them to Brighton where we met them for dinner Friday night. Thanks Kim for stopping in to pick them up....also thanks for not switching Mickey with a fake.... LOL

Shhhh Stormy is in my meeting

I have a lot of online meetings, and I use my headset and listen and often talk too. Today I was just listening....ok, and I was a little bored. So, I let Stormy try on the headset. Here is she in the meeting....

I think she got bored too.....

This didn't last long, and I went back to my own listening.

Mickey Pancakes

One of my faculty members was in Orlando and picked up a Mickey Pancake mold for me. So I had to try it out, with blueberry pancakes. They were yummy....and I am sure the mold had a lot to do with that ;)

Somebody say Chocolate????

I haven't really been baking much. As many of you know I was very sick the first part of the year, and am just now back to normal. Well normal for Jody ;-)

If you know Kevin, you know he loves chocolate. So I decided to make a triple chocolate cupcake. It is Chocolate Cupcake, with a ganache filling, and chocolate frosting. I made both regular size cupcakes and mini cupcakes....

Here is Kevin trying out a mini cupcake....enjoy the 'action' shots...

They are very yummy, and very sweet. I am not sure where Kevin is now, probably out somewhere wearing off the sugar....or thinking about coming in for another.....you know Kevin.

Honey Bells

I have been watching commercials for Honeybells for the past few years. This year it was on our Christmas list. Honeybells for those who don't know are cross between a tangerine and a grapefruit. Honeybells come to their ripeness in January, so we had to wait for ours. They are so good. Very juicy (hence they ship with a bib)

YUM!

Christmas Cactus???

I have two Christmas Cactus plants. They have bloomed in the past, but this year, I have lots and lots of blooms. They just started blooming about a week ago, and they keep getting more....

So, they can't read the calendar....maybe they should be MLK Day Cactus? Doesn't matter to me, I like them.

Napping

So you know I was sick. Well I coughed so hard, I actually pulled a muscle in my back. So one afternoon, I laid on the floor with an icepack on my back and a blanket. I discovered Stormy wanted to cuddle up too. So I let her be all covered up too. Kevin snapped this of the two of us.

Happy Birthday Pauline

Pauline is now 18 years old! Yea! Hope she has a great day.

We really look forward to her visiting in:

What is it 2011 already?

Ok so I have been "out". Let me give you some updates...to catch you back up....

Before Christmas...Kevin had a birthday, we took a day off work, went to Denver, did some shopping had a great dinner out and came home.

Christmas....had all the family here. Big group, great food, fun.

Then it all turned......The sickness fell in.

First I had it and was in bed for a few days (not how I dreamed of spending my vacation), then it spread around the house and all 4 of us have had it.

New Years Eve...in bed by 10, sick

New Years Day...stayed home and tried to get well.

Back to work for 2011, busy as usual, still recovering from illness. I think we are all now down to that point where you just have an annoying cough leftover.

This coming weekend is a holiday weekend, plan to take it a little easy, and finally put some Christmas stuff away, we haven't been able to do so yet.

So you can see while we haven't posted...there isn't much to say....

Stuffy Bears

Today we were talking with Mom and Dad, and we also got to talk to Kassidy. She made us some Stuffed bears and emailed them to us. The Pink Pirate for Kevin, and a Blue Cowgirl for me.

I have been wanting this

So for a long time I have wanted something like this....do you know what it is?

Can you see the Mickey's? Yes this is my Mickey fabric...

This is a place for me to store and display my watches. Cool right? I love it!!
Thanks Mom for sewing the fabric and Kevin for helping me put it together and hanging it up.
Things have been hectic around here, but we did manage to get a few Christmas things up. We haven't finished completely and there aren't any outside yet, but it is a good start:

Yes there are two trees....one for me (Mickey) and one for Kevin :-)

Stormy

I posted about Deogi, and so to be fair, wanted to post about Stormy. She is very cute and sweet too (unless she is with Deogi, they still don't get along so are never together). I don't think these need anymore description.

Things..

When we were on vacation, Desirae had her third baby, Harlow. So while at Universal, we bought them all shirts....Thing 1, Thing 2, and Thing 3....(from the Cat in the Hat)

Thing1: Caelum
Thing 2: Josyln
Thing 3: Harlow

Caelum loved his shirt and was so proud to be Thing 1. Very cute:

Table

Since we have had our new table, we haven't yet put in all the leaves to seat a large group. We did that for Thanksgiving. It is a big table...yet still not big enough for our whole group...

Deogi

When we got back from vacation, we decided Deogi needed a play date, so we traded dogs with my brother for a few days. We sent Stormy to his house, and brought home Boo Boo (the yellow lab).

Boo Boo is a real sweet dog and she wasn't sure about how wild Deogi was at first but after a day or two, they decided they could play, and then they had a great time. The pictures are a little blurry, but as fast as they were running around and wrestling, they were sorta a blur in real time too.

Many of you know Deogi has a growth on her head and it is Bone Cancer. At this time she is doing fine and is still very active and happy and eats well etc....so we have decided her quality of life is more important than doing a bunch of expensive tests and putting her through all that pain. So the growth continues to grow, and we continue to watch her. She is so happy and sweet it breaks my heart sometimes. Here is the latest pictures of her.

How can you not love that face.....

Lemon Blossoms

I haven't done too much baking in the last few weeks (well none while on vacation :-) )

I last baked right before we left. I had my first paying customer. So yesterday while I was working (or should have been), I saw this recipe that Paula Deen made on foodtv.

Now I had most of the ingredients, so I made up the rest. They just sounded good with the Lemon....

Next up? Pumpkin Cheesecake for Kevin.

Deck update

It is done! OK, I know it looks like the other one, but hopefully this one is more sturdy and not made of defective product!

The Loot

This time on our trip I didn't really buy too much. Just a few small things for me and a bunch of silly gifts....
